This is a large fort along the Straits of Hormuz in the area of
Musandam. Many wars were fought in this region among
warlords and colonial powers. |

This is an extremely large fort where a powerful tribal leader
projected power into the surrounding countryside. The
leader was called a Wali. So this is where he lived with
his family and supporters. |

I am coming out of the main door into one of the Omani
fortresses. They had tiny little doors through which
people could come in and out. If you were not a friend,
then you would not survive going through the tiny little door as
there would be someone on the other side who guarded the door.
